Rabbi Aaron M. Petuchowski

Rabbi Aaron M. Petuchowski is Rabbi of Temple Sholom of Chicago since his appointment in July 1997. Prior to moving to Chicago, he was associated with Temple Sinai of Roslyn, on Long Island, New York. Initially engaged as Assistant Rabbi in 1983, he was named Associate Rabbi in 1986, and became the Temple’s Senior Rabbi in 1987. Rabbi Petuchowski was ordained by HUC-JIR in New York. As a student, he was the recipient of numerous academic awards and scholarships. He attended Indiana University and received his BA Degree from the University of Illinois. Beyond his efforts within the congregational setting, Rabbi Petuchowski is committed to the larger community, and has participated in social action, human relations activities, hospital chaplainry and interfaith activities. He serves as member of the Rabbinic Advisory Board of the Jewish Fund for Justice, and as a member of the Rabbinic Board of Overseers of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. Before leaving New York, he had been a member of the Board of Governors of the New York Board of Rabbis, and of the UAHC Eisner Camp Commission. He is the proud father of two sons, Benjamin and Joshua.
